UX web designers Galway use a variety of professional techniques, including user research and usability testing, and AB testing to ensure that the final website is user friendly and conversion optimised.
It is vital that a websites end goal is taken into consideration. If a site does not generate new leads or maximise sales then its not fit for purpose. Experienced web designers Ireland will be fully aware of this and will ensure your overall goals and UX requirements are included and evolved and optimised over time.

Galway, also known as Gaillimh in Irish (pronounced GAWL-way), stands as a city in the western part of Ireland, situated within the province of Connacht. It holds the distinction of being the county town of County Galway and is strategically located between the River Corrib, Lough Corrib, and Galway Bay. Galway serves as the most densely populated city in Connacht, the sixth most populous urban center on the entire island of Ireland, and the fourth most populous city within the Republic of Ireland. According to the 2022 census, the city had a population of 85,910.
The city’s origin can be traced back to an earlier settlement and was later developed around a fortress constructed by the King of Connacht in the year 1124. A municipal charter granted in 1484 empowered the inhabitants of the now-walled city to establish a council and mayoralty. Under the influence of a consortium of merchant families known as the “Tribes of Galway,” the city evolved into a thriving trading port. While it experienced a period of decline, Galway has, in the 21st century, transformed into a prominent tourist destination, renowned for its festivals and events, including the Galway Arts Festival.
In 2018, Galway earned the title of European Region of Gastronomy, and in 2020, it shared the distinction of being the European Capital of Culture with Rijeka, Croatia.
The city’s name, Gaillimh, originates from the Irish term that marked the western boundary of the earliest settlement, Dún Gaillimhe, meaning “Fort Gaillimh.” Historically, it was Anglicized as Galliv or Gallive, more closely reflecting the Irish pronunciation. In Latin, the city is known as Galvia, and its residents are referred to as Galwegians.
Additionally, Galway is often affectionately called the “City of the Tribes” (Cathair na dTreabh in Irish) due to the influence of fourteen prominent merchant families known as the “tribes of Galway,” who played a pivotal role during its Hiberno-Norman era.
Refer to the main article: History of Galway Dún Gaillimhe, built on the site of an earlier settlement, was completed in 1124 under the rule of the King of Connacht and High King of Ireland, Tairrdelbach Ua Conchobair (1088–1156). This fortress served as a naval base for his fleet, giving rise to a burgeoning settlement around it. During the Norman invasion of Connacht in the 1230s, Richard Mor de Burgh captured Dún Gaillimhe, leading to eventual Gaelicization of the de Burghs. In response, the merchant families of the town, known as the Tribes of Galway, sought greater control over the walled city.
This effort culminated in complete dominance over the city and the grant of mayoral status by the English crown in December 1484. Galway had complex relations with its Irish neighbors during this period. A sign over the west gate of the city, erected in 1562 under Mayor Thomas Óge Martyn, read “From the Ferocious O’Flahertys may God protect us.” Furthermore, a by-law restricted unrestricted access for native Irish (distinct from Galway’s Hiberno-Norman inhabitants), stating that “neither O’ nor Mac shall strutte nor swagger through the streets of Galway” without permission.
